How much can the 2021 Jeep Gladiator tow?

2021 Jeep Gladiator Performance and Towing

The Jeep Gladiator is one of our favorite new models in a very long time. It resembles its iconic Wrangler sibling but has the capability and practicality of a truck. That description certainly got our attention. And here at SJ Denham CDJR in Mount Shasta, CA, we couldn’t be happier with how the 2021 Gladiator turned out. But how well does the Gladiator fare as a truck?

How much can the 2021 Jeep Gladiator tow? Which engines are available? How much power do they put out? We’ll answer all of this below.

Towing Capacity

Depending on which engine you choose, the 2021 Gladiator has different towing capacities. All models come standard with 4×4, so drivetrain is not a consideration. The maximum the 2021 Gladiator can tow is 7,650 lbs when the 3.6L Pentastar V6 is equipped. However, the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 can tow up to 6,500 lbs and has higher low-end torque.

Powertrain Specs

As mentioned above, the 2021 Gladiator has two different engines, one gas and one diesel. All models have standard 4×4. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It can get up to 17-city/22-hwy mpg. The 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 produces 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. It can get up to 22-city/28-hwy mpg. Both engines come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, however, the 3.6L Pentastar V6 has a six-speed manual gearbox for those that want it.
