Towing Capacities

The 2021 RAM 1500 equipped with the 5.7L HEMI V8 with eTorque can tow up to 12,750 lbs, the highest number of all 2021 Ram 1500 models. The 2021 Ram 1500 equipped with the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 has a slightly lower towing capacity, clocking in at 12,560 lbs. There are two other available engines. The non-eTorque 5.7L HEMI V8 can pull up to 11,610 lbs. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 can tow up to 7,730 lbs. Towing capacities for all models depend on trim, cab size, box length, drivetrain, and other factors.

Horsepower and Torque

As mentioned above, the 2021 Ram 1500 has four different available engines (the high-performance RAM 1500 TRX is not included here).

  • 5.7L HEMI V8 eTorque – 395 hp / 410 lb-ft
  • 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 – 260 hp / 460 lb-ft
  • 5.7L HEMI V8 – 395 hp / 410 lb-ft
  • 3.6L Pentastar V6 eTorque – 305 hp / 269 lb-ft

What is eTorque?

You may have noticed the eTorque next to the 5.7L V8 and the 3.6 V6 options. This the name of the mild hybrid system that some Ram trucks use. While it doesn’t increase power or torque, it does help with low-end torque and with fuel economy. It’s a completely hands-off system that requires no charging, unlike a plug-in hybrid or an electric vehicle.
