What’s Changed with the 2019 Ram 1500 Redesign?
The 2019 Ram 1500 redesign sees one of America’s favorite half-ton pickups returning to the scene stronger than ever, with all new features and upgrades including:
- eTorque Mild-Hybrid Tech
- 12,750 lbs. Maximum Tow Rating
- Updated Steering Wheel
- Largest-in-Class 12-inch touchscreen
Let’s take a closer look at how those 2019 Ram 1500 changes are set to upgrade your drive.
2019 Ram 1500 Engine
You might not think the 2019 Ram 1500 has made any upgrades when it comes to power since the same engines that were available in the 2018 model have reappeared.
- 3.6L Pentastar V6: Makes up to 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque.
- 5.7L HEMI V8: Makes up to 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque.
However, what makes those engines stand out is Ram’s new eTorque mild-hybrid tech. The conventional starter and alternator are ditched in favor of a 48-volt motor on the accessory drive. That motor takes over key responsibilities to help save gas and produce added torque when you need it most.
2019 Ram 1500 Towing
If you want to find out how the Ram 1500’s performance upgrade has translated to capability, just check out the new Ram 1500 towing and payload specs:
- Max Towing: Up to 12,750 lbs. in the 2019 model vs. 10,620 lbs. in the 2018 model.
- Max Payload: Up to 2,300 lbs. in the 2019 model vs. 1,880 lbs. in the 2018 model.
Whether piling the bed high and heavy in Redding or towing laden trailers between Red Bluff and Yreka, the new Ram 1500 will serve you better than competitors like the Toyota Tacoma.
2019 Ram 1500 Interior
You’ll notice a score of changes when you jump into the Ram 1500 cabin, including an updated steering wheel, updated instrument cluster, new upper glovebox, and handy moveable cup holders.
However, the biggest addition is an available Largest-in-Class 12-inch touchscreen. Use it for everything from music selection to navigation.
